It's been a while!

Well, we started the electrical wiring...and it is pretty complicated. We looked at wiring diagrams and connected one wire at a time until we got the engine to turn over. WOO HOO! We are going to add the oil, exhaust, and try to fire it up next week.

Hey, check out the new seat. Tyler from TYLER'S UPHOLSTERY hooked us up with a beatiful seat. The design and quality is great. Check out his site below.

Rolling chassis

Week 5

With the engine assembled and the front end together, we moved on to mounting of the engine. The fitment was pretty good. We started all mounting bolts, then added red locktite, lockwashers, and nuts, before proceeding to torque the bolts. We did not use chrome plated bolts for engine mounting, because they have had a tendency to loosen up in past builds. LOOKING GOOD!

New paint

Week 4

Our frame just came back from the Career center. Jesse and Don did a great job with the new AUTO-AIR COLORS. Now we can begin the transformation of the buell into a CHOPPER.

week 4.5 Wow! Redneck engineering really outdid themselves! The fabrication and welding on these parts is unbelievable. We want to thank them for all of their help and support. Check out the Redneck website to see their amazing frames and bikes. If you are looking for American built quality you have to check out what the crew at Redneck engineering can do for your next project. AMERICAN MADE!!!!

engine While we had the engine out we decided to pull it apart and fix any problems that might exist. We checked tolerances, replaced seals, and replaced any worn parts. Mr. Densmore had us READ the manuals and torque every bolt to the correct specification during assembly.

week 4

Week 3

This week we sanded and prepped all of the parts that will get painted at the Jackson Area Career Center. Jesse Gonzales teaches evening classes where you can learn to paint like a PRO. Jesse and his crew have worked their magic on all of our bikes. Each paint job is a work of art!!! Just wait until you see the latest colors from AUTO-AIR COLORS!!

week 2

Week 2

Now that the plastic is removed we can see the engine that we will be working with. Now we need to remove the wheels forks and triple clamps. We will be rebuilding the front forks when they are out. It was a challenge to find the seals and bushings, but the people at American sportbike came through with the perfect parts.

week 1 Week 1

We started with a 1998 Buell Thunderbolt 1200cc. It looked great and ran even better. We began taking off the plastics and electrical components. We carefully maked the wireing harness for possible use on the chopper. Yes this hi-performance machine is getting a facelift as we transform it into a CHOPPER!!
